Life Story for Caldren Brumfield Washington

On January 11, 1942, Caldren Lucille Brumfield Washington was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis and Mandy Sibley Brumfield in Osyka, Mississippi. She was reared in a large and loving family and attended the local schools.
She was baptized into the Christian faith at a young age at Tangipohoa Baptist Church in Osyka. Upon graduation from high school, she enrolled at Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, Florida, from which she graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Her drive and passion was to instill a zest for learning in her young students, which she did for 35 dedicated years as an elementary school teacher in the Duval County Public School System.

Ms. Washington became a communicant of St. Pius V Catholic Church many years ago and was active with the Welcome and Outreach Ministry, and the Bereavement Ministry. She loved people overall, and had a special love for her family who affectionately called her Big Momma, Gee Gee and Wash.

Caldren Lucille Washington’s mission on earth was completed on Friday, March 24, 2017, and she was welcomed home by her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Ms. Washington was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Brumfield; and siblings, Preston Brumfield, Jones Brumfield, James Brumfield, Katherine Ratcliff, Bernice Rock, Albertine Mason and Hazel Taylor.

Her legacy will be cherished by her brother, Otis Brumfield; nieces and nephews, Patti Lockley (Larry), Vanessa Jones (Melvin), Mikelle James (Jacquee), Kendall Yelverton (Andrew), Michael Brumfield (Cynthia), Tyrone Brumfield (Donna), Therese Brumfield (Morgan) and Rynell Brumfield; special godsons, Robert Prosser and Daizon Prosser; great nieces and nephews, Latrice Brumfield, Dominique Brumfield, Lazon Brumfield, St. Christopher Brumfield, Morgan Brumfield, Amanda, Kaitlyn Yelverton, Aviya Yelverton, Rhynell Brumfield, and Gee Gee’s boy, Abner Jones; special friend, Mary Singleton; other relatives and dear friends.
