Our dear loved one, Alvin Johnson, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2020. Alvin was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1945, to the late Dorothy Mae Camon and the late Grady Johnson in Ray City, GA. During Alvin’s early childhood, he lived with his mother and his Great Aunt Cassie, in Nashville, GA. He also attended the local schools in that city.
Alvin’s mother and younger siblings relocated to Jacksonville, FL in the late 1950’s and he soon joined them not many years thereafter. Alvin took advantage of an employment opportunity as a young adult at St. Regis Paper Company, where he worked for several years. He then relocated to South Hampton, New York where he worked as a chef. He eventually moved back to Jacksonville, FL where he remained until death.
Alvin is survived by 4 brothers and 2 sisters from his mother’s lineage: Burnace (Pam) - Atlanta, GA, Nathaniel, Judge and Andrew; Elaine (Mortimer), and Sarah (Freddie); 1 sister from his father’s lineage: Kathleen Johnson Mayhew; Goddaughter: Tikki Riley; 2 special friends: Stephanie Violenusellis and Shirley Shannon Shingles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
