Obituary for Isaiah Rodall

THE SANDS OF TIME

Deacon Isaiah Rodall was born on August 14, 1935, the youngest child, to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Willa Mae Owens Rodall in the town of Allendale, South Carolina. Taught the love of God, he accepted Christ at a young age. His education was received in the Allendale County schools.

He was wed in Allendale to his beloved Mary Janiece Bennett on December 2, 1954, and they established residence in Jacksonville, FL, that same year. As time progressed, they were blessed to become the proud parents of Larry, Shirley, Meloney, Anthony and Ethan.

Never an idle man, Deacon Rodall was a good provider for his family, serving as a faithful employee of Pantry Pride Grocers, and a Custodian in the Duval County Schools.

Leisure time was spent with the Good Guys Motorcycle Club, where he was known as “Big Ike.” People gravitated to Big Ike who always had a joke to lighten up the audience.

The family held membership at Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church beginning in the 1960s where they were active in many capacities. That servant spirit was brought with them when they became connected with First New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 2005 under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. James B. Sampson. Deacon Rodall served faithfully until a few years ago as his health became compromised. However, his love for God and his fellow man never faltered.

On October 22, 2021, Deacon Isaiah Rodall answered the Master’s call to his new home prepared for him in Glory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Willie Rodall; his beloved soulmate for sixty years, Sister Mary J. Rodall; and siblings, Bennie, Ethel Mae, Richard and Willie Rodall.

Left to cherish precious memories are sons, Larry (Virginia), Anthony (Marie) and Ethan Rodall; daughters, Shirley Rodall and Meloney Williams (Ricky); brother, Freddie Rodall; brother-in-law, Ulysses Bennett, and sister-in-law, Kathy Bennett; 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 5 great great grands; a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends, to include a devoted friend and confidant, Paula Dairy.
