Obituary for Leonard Elliott Mixson

Leonard Elliott Mixson was born in Jacksonville, FL, on September 25, 1959, to Mr. and Mrs. George and Frances Thomas Mixson, Sr. As a young lad, he attended Friendly Baptist Church with his family, and was baptized after accepting Christ as his Savior. Leonard was educated in the Duval public school system, graduating from Paxon Senior High School, Class of 1977.

Upon graduation, Leonard enlisted in the U.S. Marines, serving actively from 1978 to his honorable discharge in 1981. Pursuant to his military service, he was employed with Lee Printing, Inc., where he worked for 12 years.

Leonard, affectionately called “Baby Boy,” loved sports, especially baseball, and was a great fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was generally quiet in nature, but watching baseball games was his outlet. He also enjoyed going on Cruises.

On Monday, December 21, 2020, the call was made for Leonard to make his earthly exit to life eternal. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. George Mixson, Sr.; son, Christopher Donovan Mixson; and brother, George Mixson, Jr.

Left to cherish precious memories are his beloved grandsons, Christopher Mixson Jr. and Christian Mixson; devoted mother, Mrs. Frances Mixson; loving sisters, Shirley Foster (Allen) and Jeanette Mobley; brother and friend, Gerald Mixson, Sr. (Derrell); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

“There are special people in our lives that never leave us even after they are gone.”
