Obituary for Lillian Edwards Miller

Lillian Miller, affectionately known as Aunt Lillie, was born
May 31, 1941, in Garnett, South Carolina, to Martha Aiken
and Samuel Edwards. Her loving family included brothers
and sisters, John Sugar, Willie Sugar, Sr., Flossie Barrett,
Alberta Tasher, Minnie Lou Watson and Earnestine Majett.
The family moved from South Carolina to Suffolk, VA, and
there she graduated from Suffolk’s Booker T. Washington
High School, Class of 1960. She then relocated to Jacksonville,
FL, where she met and married William Miller in
1965.
Aunt Lillie was many things to her loved ones. She was
kind, empathetic, unconditionally loving, strong willed,
giving, witty, and so much more. She was a phenomenal
hostess for over 50 years, and her door was always open for
her family and friends. If you were lucky, you probably
heard some of her “Aunt Lillie’s Specialty Jokes” that
weren’t made for the faint of heart. Aunt Lillie always made
sure her home was full of excitement and games for everyone
to enjoy. The holidays were her favorite time of the year
when she became the female version of Santa. Every year
she made sure everyone had a gift under the tree, no matter
what. She would even buy extra gifts, so that no one was left
empty handed!
In her spare time, Aunt Lillie enjoyed fishing. She also was
an expert when it came to putting puzzles together, and she
loved watching unsolved mystery shows. She was a detective
in her own right, and when she made up her mind, there
was no going back! No matter what, Aunt Lillie was just a
phone call away and often checked in on her family just to
make sure they were all doing well.
Aunt Lillie Miller was preceded in death by her husband,
her parents, and her brothers and sisters. She leaves a multitude
of nephews, nieces, cousins, a goddaughter and friends
to cherish her memory.
