Plathell Dallas was born to Leo and Catherine (Smith) Dallas on January 23, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended Jacksonville’s public schools, graduating in 1968 from Williams M. Raines Senior High School. Plathell was on the Raines Vikings football team where he played the position of right tackle. In 1967, his senior year, Raines won the Championship, and Plathell was selected to play Offensive Tackle in the Gateway All Conference State playoffs. He was also a member of the Raines Men's Club. He was accepted at Savannah State College in 1970 to try out for a football scholarship, which resulted in his attending Savannah State for one year.
Employed later by Delta Airlines as a Ramp Agent, Plathell quickly moved into the position of Reservation Agent. He also worked several years in the construction industry, following in the footsteps of his father. He loved joking around and bringing laughter to the group. He was a great cook and loved eating. He kept abreast of current events and enjoyed quoting information that he had read on the internet or learned otherwise.
Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Hollis Dallas, Plathell is survived by his sister, Edna Fleming (Stone Mountain, GA); nieces, Sharonna Duncan and Erica Killum (Houston, TX); nephew, Everett Fleming, III (Orlando, FL); first cousins, Geraldine Longmire ((Middleburg, FL) and Betty Dallas; special friend, Andre' Alston; and a host of additional cousins, other relatives and friends.
