Life Story for Susie Mae Harris

Susie Mae Harris
Susie Mae Harris was born on September 3, 1952, in Callahan, Florida, to Eula Mae Harris and Walter Nelson, Sr. She grew up in a loving and nurturing family, and as a child attended Sunday School at Greater Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with her siblings. Susie was also a student at the Pine Forest Community
School of Nassau County.

Although emotional and medical issues consistently haunted Susie through her lifetime, her family faithfully and lovingly saw that she was cared for every step of the way. Susie’s special love was reserved for children; however, it can be noted that she had an affinity for good food and also loved it when she would receive
monetary gifts.

At the age of 64, Susie quietly and peacefully slipped away to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Zondra E. Poole; and a brother, Arthur Lee Harris.

Her memory will be cherished by her devoted siblings, Bernice Brown, Julia Mae Brewton (Benjamin), Alton Harris, Leron Harris, Karen Golson, Velma Pettiford (Edsel, Jr.), Thewana Martin (Theodis, Sr.) and Eric Kelley; multiple nieces and nephews; aunt, Mrs. Virginia Harris; a host of cousins, to include Ivory Melton, Sr.,
Ivory Melton, Jr., Frank Harris, Jr., Brenda Harris, Elaine Harris, Anne Harris, and the Nelson-Cooper family; and many other relatives, friends and residents of the Petrell Group Home.
